This is my first marathon and I'm so excited to be running and fundraising for Boston Children's Hospital! Not only do I believe strongly in all the good things Boston Children's Hospital does for kids and medical research, but my daughter and I are "regulars" there so I feel a strong tie to this cause. Fortunately for us, our visits are usually only to track a mild condition that most likely won't impact my daughter's long term health. During our visits though, we see lots of brave children along with their worried families that we know are cared for by wonderful doctors, nurses and support staff. We feel confident that these children are receiving the very best care and cutting edge treatments, which gives us a sense of relief as we stroll the halls.
I'm anxious and excited to achieve my long time dream of running 26.2 miles in the city I've loved since childhood. Having never actually ran a marathon, I have watched runners getting ready in Hopkington, and runners reaching the top of Heartbreak Hill, and seeing marathoners hug their friends are families at the finish line over the years. I can't wait to be one of those people being cheered for on Marathon Monday in 2013 and especially can't wait to hug my daughters at the finish line. Please consider helping me reach my goal of $5000 for Boston Children's Hospital. Every little bit helps. And please think of me on Marathon Monday, running next to my best friend for almost 30 years, Erika Konover. Cheers!
